Technical Operations Manager – Electronics Bias

eTrac is a leading specialist in the testing and repair of railway traction and control electronics. Due to recent strong growth, eTrac has identified a requirement to create a new role for a technically biased Operations Manager.

  • This is a fantastic opportunity to work autonomously in a small, agile team.
  • The company has the backing of an independent investment office based in London, who wish to grow the business further.

Responsibilities.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations, including but not limited to planning, scheduling and supervising the work of technical staff to ensure the services are provided in a timely manner, efficiently and with the highest quality possible.
  • Developing and implementing processes for managing operations or projects to ensure that they meet customer needs.
  • Purchase materials, plan inventory and oversee warehouse efficiency.
  • Ensure the organisation’s processes remain legally compliant.
  • Own the Health and Safety process.
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and resource management.
  • Perform quality controls, own and monitor production KPIs.
  • Identify growth opportunities.
  • Liaise with customers.

Skills – essential

  • Proven work experience as Operations Manager in an engineering role.
  • Knowledge of organisational effectiveness and operations management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Outstanding organisational skills.

Skills – desirable

  • Familiarity with business and financial principles.
  • Experience budgeting and forecasting.
  • Degree or HND in an engineering discipline, preferably electronics.
  • Previous experience within the rail industry – rolling stock.
