WHAT WE DO

Spares and obsolescence

eTrac holds essential spare parts in stock to avoid repair delays and keep trains running. Where components are obsolete, we can draw on our reverse engineering capabilities to provide high-quality alternatives.

Spares

Cutting out waiting times of up to 12 months, our stock facilitates a fast turnaround for repairs, and, where possible, same-day completion.

To provide additional peace of mind, we also hold bonded stock – ring-fenced for specific depots – to guarantee that specific stock is always available when it’s needed.

Our stock includes the following:

Brake resistor spares

Most parts including elements and sensor PCB. This avoids a six-month lead time.

Vehicle computer

All four replacement PCBs (used to support our VCU overhaul programme)

Other spares

We also hold large enclosures, enclosure covers and a range of small electrical components, plus a range of components that have been reconditioned/overhauled by us for future customer use.

Managing obsolescence

For parts that are no longer produced by the OEM, eTrac is able to reverse engineer industry-standard alternatives.

When reverse engineering is required, we liaise closely with the customer on the design, discussing options and seeking approval throughout our change control process. For example, we’ve put this into practice in managing obsolete components as part of our VCU overhaul programme.

Where replacement is not possible, we can undertake component condition assessment to ensure the obsolete part is still fit for service.
